Ryoko Miyahara was raised deep in the ocean off the coast of Kumejima Island in the cold waters of Okinawa by a family of violent predatorial Cheloniidae sea turtles known as the
"Turtle Cartel". After attending the exclusive Swiss finishing school for girls- Le Institut Villa Pierrefeu- (as well as learning to walk on land) she soon discovered a rising demand for images and drawings of the sea monsters she grew up with. She would end up giving herself her first tattoo at the age of 9, a drawing of a three headed squid named "Charlie" who was old friends of her parents.
Years later with thousands of tattoos under her belt and a tutelage under the esteemed Willie Paredes, Ryoko continues to push the boundaries of both modern and traditional tattooing...
looking forward into the future as well as digging deep into her aquatic past for inspiration.
2011 will be the year Ryoko becomes a household name. Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, Catherine the Great... and now Ryoko Miyahara. Behold the icon.
